Indonesia’s Ministry of Health has introduced simplified routes for certain class A medical devices. The characteristics of certain class A medical devices themselves are Home Use, Non-Sterile, and non-IVD. The products which can be registered through a simplified route will need fewer documentation requirements compared to the regular registration route.

In 2020, National Public Procurement Agency (in Indonesia known as LKPP) has opened E-katalog registration for domestic medical device products and several medical products for handling Covid-19. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are several stages in the E-katalog registration process which is carried out online, namely verification / clarification process. However, the price negotiation stage is still carried out face to face. There is also a possibility that e-katalog registration for imported medical products will be opened around this year.

In accordance with applicable regulations of MOH Indonesia, medical devices must go through an assessment process by the MOH Indonesia to obtain a marketing authorization number. This marketing authorization number means that the medical devices have been declared safe and efficacy.

In Indonesia, E-Katalog become the most popular platform for the public hospital or government related institution to find required medical device equipment. In October, Government invite Medical Device Company to submit an offering of Medical Devices and Household Health Supplies products to be included in E-Katalog.
